History

The Company was founded in 1993 by Sharon McCormick. Previous ballet productions had been well received by the community, and she felt that the time was right for the formation of a non-profit organization to encourage and support development of the art. A ballet company would provide a means for talented dancers to further their training and experience to professional standards.

Over the years, the Company has performed numerous works of classical, contemporary, and original repertoire. These have included performances for the Rim of the World Unified School District, the Children’s Cancer Ward at Loma Linda Hospital, the Palos Verdes Art Centre, the Palm Springs Playhouse, the Art and Wine Festival at Tavern Bay in Lake Arrowhead, the Russian Art Exhibit at the Lake Arrowhead Hilton, A Christmas Collage with Maria’s Conservatory of Music at the Lake Arrowhead Resort, and the Mayor and City of Palm Springs From Russia with Art program.The Company has collaborated with Arrowhead Arts in their Youth Enrichment Programs presented in the elementary schools, by performing Peter and The Wolf, excerpts from The Nutcracker, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Annual performances of the holiday classic, The Nutcracker, began in 1994. These performances have become an annual tradition for many mountain residents. They serve as a showcase for local dancers, and also feature guest artists from the major dance companies. The Company’s out reach program provides special children’s performances of the Nutcracker at a discounted rate.
