Mission Statement

The Lake Arrowhead Classical Ballet Company is a non-profit organization located in Southern California’s beautiful San Bernardino Mountains. Since its founding in 1993 by Sharon McCormick, the mission of the LACBC has been to foster, nurture and support the artistic development of our mountain youth through exposure to dance; to light the path of self-discovery and personal achievement through artistic expression.

In addition to dance technique, performance and fitness training, the LACBC strives to enrich the lives of its students through positive instruction in theater skills and etiquette, motivation, self-reliance and personal responsibility. Teamwork, self-respect and consideration of others are core principles embraced and promoted by the LACBC in its day to day activities.

The LACBC’s mission is to partner with aspiring dancers and our mountain communities to lay a foundation of character built upon hard work, dedication, self-challenge and acceptance of creative direction. Our goal is to cultivate a creative environment where our dancers develop and thrive beneath the lights, beyond the stage, and out in the world.

It is our hope that, in some magical way, the LACBC’s annual production of Tchaikovsky’s ballet, The Nutcracker, has helped to fulfill the dreams of countless young dancers while forging a memorable bond with our mountain friends and supporters. Through the years we have witnessed a wonderful sense of pride and ownership from the community demonstrated by the eagerness of neighbors and family to volunteer assistance and to promote not only this holiday favorite but all of our outreach and learning endeavors.

As each year passes, our commitment strengthens in its aim to awaken a vision in our young people, to enhance their potential, to reaffirm their sense of self, and to work with them to reach for the stars and fulfill their dreams within the world of artistic dance theater.
